“My family moved around often and I struggled to constantly make new friends. I began to rebel and just quit going to school altogether. Thankfully, I was sent to AMIkids, where I learned to value myself and life. After graduating AMIkids, I went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in social work and my Master of Social work degree and am pursuing my doctorate. I am currently a Chief of Social Work at a Medical Center and an adjunct facility instructor.  I am married and have two wonderful children and I owe much of my success to AMIkids for helping me develop a vision and purpose for my life.”

AMIkids Pinellas

My family moved often during my childhood which required me to constantly change schools and try to make new friends. I became withdrawn and had difficulty establishing new relationships. I ended up in a peer group which was not the best influence on me. I had no sense of purpose, no goals, and no plans for the future. I began to rebel against all authority figures and finally just quit going to school altogether. My inappropriate behavior increased, which led to my involvement with the juvenile justice system.

Thankfully, I was sent to AMIkids, where I learned to value myself and my life. I realized I could set goals and achieve them. Eventually, I developed a vision for my life that included living with a purpose. I sought to eventually help others that had similar experiences and difficulties as an adolescent.  After graduating from AMIkids, I attended college and received my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from Jacksonville State University. I continued in my educational pursuit to obtain my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Alabama. I am employed as the Chief of Social Work with a Veteran’s Health Administration Medical Center and Adjunct Faculty at the University of Alabama’s Graduate School of Social Work. As my academic journey continues, I am enrolled in the Doctor of Behavioral Health program at Arizona State University.

I am married and my beautiful wife and I have two wonderful children. I owe much of my success to AMIkids for helping me develop a vision and purpose for my life.  AMIkids helped me build the foundation of a successful future and provided me the tools to push myself forward. I will be forever grateful to AMIkids.
