The kids at AMIkids Panama City Marine Institute quickly learn that hard work and positive behavior brings rewards, and this week we were able to provide a unique experience to those that earned it.
AMIkids Panama City Marine Institute was awarded $7,825.00 from the Perkins Grant to support their new construction and carpentry program. The new program leads to certifications by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) in Construction technology and carpentry.
The United Way of Miami Dade County has selected AMIkids Miami-Dade student Youri to be a spokesperson for the United Way. The United Way will be filming a documentary on Youri's life, highlighting how AMIkids Miami-Dade has positively impacted and aided Youri in separating a troubled past to a bright future.
AMIkids Big Cypress students have been making great strides in their construction training by building picnic tables. The kids start out by measuring and cutting the wood in specific lengths and assembling the pieces and support needs to ensure the benches will hold the proper weight. Then they attach the legs and supports to the bench top. "These boys are learning so fast and are so eager to learn and work," said Mr. Vargas.
