AMIkids Piedmont students recently assisted the residents at Agape Healthcare by placing their monthly calendar on their walls. They were tasked with removing July’s calendar and replacing it with August’s calendar.
Escambia Boys Base at AMIkids Pensacola was visited today by youth from Mexico. They gave presentation about their lives in Mexico and toured the facility. This visit was sponsored by Gulf Coast Citizen Diplomacy Council and the United States Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program.
We just returned from a trip to the Florida Keys to conduct coral surveys for Coral Watch and a fish survey for REEF. Its basically “citizen science” where we are showing the kids how exciting the world of science can be. They learn basic concepts like measurement, data recording and observation skills, all while using their new scuba training. For the fish survey, we chose the deep Spiegel Grove wreck site off Key Largo.
In an effort to prompt positive career paths and opportunities for students, AMIkids White Pines’ Career Coordinator Department hosted a “Marine’s Tour and Talk” where students learned about opportunities offered by the US Marine Corp and ways they could benefit from shaping their future with discipline and prestige by serving our country!
The 22nd Annual Mascot Games benefiting New Hope for Kids, sponsored by WaWa and Pizza Hut, was held at the Amway Arena in Orlando on June 19th, 2015. The trip was a reward for the great sportsmanship and hard work our boys displayed during the AMIkids Challenge Event in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
