The kids at the Melbourne Center for Personal Growth, operated by AMIkids Space Coast, had the opportunity to attend a seminar conducted by the Rockledge Police Department entitled "Law and Order." This seminar informed kids in the community about how to interact with law enforcement officers and showcased actions that they should not do or say when approached by law enforcement. Our boys truly appreciated the experience of interacting with members of law enforcement in such a positive manner and were able to put aside any misconceptions of law enforcement and how it can impact their lives.
Last month, we had three awesome young men graduate from our program! All three earned their CPR/First Aid certifications and two earned their ServSafe certification (the third did not meet the age requirement for this certification). All three young men are motivated to return to school and seek employment once they return home. One of our graduates was so inspired by his field trip to Universal Technical Institute, that a representative from the institute came to our campus to begin the enrollment process with him. None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of all our staff, board members, and friends of AMIkids Space Coast, who donate their time and resources to ensure our kids have bright futures.
Last month, we hosted a Career Day at the Melbourne Center for Personal Growth, operated by AMIkids Space Coast, which was presented by ex-NFL player, Joe Cohen. Our kids learned about potential careers in a variety of industries and what it took to achieve them.
Two of our boys at the Melbourne Center for Personal Growth, operated by AMIkids Space Coast, have passed the first three sections of their GED (Math, Language Arts, and Science), and we are extremely excited for when they take their final section, Social Studies, in the near future.
AMIkids White Pines took the AMIkids Winter Challenge Event by storm this past January, taking home the top honor amongst residential programs. The happiness and pride our kids felt after performing so well has spurred them on to work even harder in their classes and in their life skills, which continues to show how special these challenge events are.
