Our Program
Founded in 1985, AMIkids Beaufort is a private nonprofit, staff-secure residential facility in Dale, South Carolina, near the historic coastal town of Beaufort. Our program operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, serving young men who have committed a variety of non-violent offenses and are involved with the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. Our kids living in dormitories on campus in a remote location ideally structured to help them work through their issues and gain the needed skills to return to their families and communities.
Originally called Beaufort Marine Institute, the program was started by seven local Beaufort residents who saw an unmet need for a way, and a facility, to redirect kids in trouble. These young men are referred by the juvenile justice system or those who were failing in traditional school settings. AMIkids Beaufort provides a needed second chance for young men who would have otherwise been sent to jail for their offenses.

AMIkids Beaufort uses the evidence-based, research-driven AMIkids Personal Growth Model © in offering dynamic programs and comprehensive services to treat each kid's unique issues, primarily focusing on education, behavior modification, and treatment.
Since 1985, AMIkids Beaufort has helped over 2,000 young men transform their lives and across all of our AMIkids programs nationally, 74% of our kids do not re-offend within the first year of completing our programs.
