Panama City Leaders held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the re-opening. Mayor Greg Brudnicki said it took them about six months to clear damaged boats and other storm debris in the area. He said this is just one of many boat ramps that'll eventually re-open in the city.
Colonel Donna Pilson gave the keynote address and she told the graduates; "A bright future is out there waiting for you. You earned it not despite the obstacles that you overcame, but you are who you are today because of the them."
AMIkids Panama City Marine Institute helps out with Meals on Wheels food delivery. Nothing feels better than helping others and when our kids get to “give back” to the people in their community they feel like a million bucks.

We just returned from a trip to the Florida Keys to conduct coral surveys for Coral Watch and a fish survey for REEF. Its basically “citizen science” where we are showing the kids how exciting the world of science can be. They learn basic concepts like measurement, data recording and observation skills, all while using their new scuba training. For the fish survey, we chose the deep Spiegel Grove wreck site off Key Largo.
The kids at AMIkids Panama City Marine Institute quickly learn that hard work and positive behavior brings rewards, and this week we were able to provide a unique experience to those that earned it.
AMIkids Panama City Marine Institute was awarded $7,825.00 from the Perkins Grant to support their new construction and carpentry program. The new program leads to certifications by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) in Construction technology and carpentry.
Summer is here! Sonya Lowe, the Program Manager said; “These kids have sat through test after test, its time we had some fun.” So, one rented blow-up and a water hose later and we are having the time of our lives.
AMIkids Panama City Marine Institute partners with Kiwanis to distribute books to school kids. Kiwanis has been collecting books for kids of all ages to place in “mini libraries” in each school in Bay County. Kids will be able to take a book and keep it if they want to or return it and take another.
After weeks of hard work and lots of help and guidance from Mr. Evens from naval Support Activity Panama City, our budding engineers completed their Sea Perch underwater submersible!
AMIkids Panama City Marine Institute invites all to attend our graduation ceremony at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 5 at the 11th Street Government Building. The ceremony will be held on the main floor in the County Commissioner Meeting Room.
The young men in the carpentry class just completed the annual Girl Scout cookie sales tracker sign that they will put out in front of their offices on 390. The sign is extra big so the motorists will be able to watch the Girl Scouts reach their sales goal!
Florida State Senator Don Gaetz recognized AMIkids PCMI for their efforts to provide career and technical training for teens, especially at-risk teens struggling to complete a high school education.
Newly elected State Representative Jay Trumbull from Florida District 6 toured AMIkids Panama City Marine Institute on Monday. He was escorted by Alissa, a student who has worked her way from Probation status all the through to school board status.
AMIkids Panama City Marine Institute hosted an open house for community agencies to highlight their services to the parents of AMIkids PCMI students.
