After weeks of hard work and lots of help and guidance from Mr. Evens from naval Support Activity Panama City, our budding engineers completed their Sea Perch underwater submersible!

Mr. Evans taught them math so they could convert fractions to decimals when we needed to make precise measurements. He spent a lot of time teaching them how to solder and even brought in his soldering iron that was better than the one we had. The kids really enjoyed learning the skill on how to create a circuit board for the control box and all of the soldering that was required to complete it. After it was completed, they field tested it at our dock and it worked flawlessly!!!

“That’s amazing. My projects almost never work the first time we test them!” said Mr. Evan when the kids controlled the submersible using the control box they built. Check out our Facebook page for more pics and a video!
