AMIkids Panama City Marine Institute Receives Grant to support Construction and Carpentry Programs.

Jul 09, 2015

AMIkids Panama City Marine Institute was awarded $7,825.00 from the Perkins Grant to support their new construction and carpentry program. The new program leads to certifications by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) in Construction technology and carpentry.

AMIkids PCMI has formed strategic partnerships to find career employment for the students who complete the training. To practice their skills, they build storage sheds for Habitat for Humanity.

All of the certifications are accepted by higher education as credits leading toward more advanced certifications which the students are encouraged to attend. Grants are available for the continuing education which could lead to a contractor’s license and the ability to own their own business!
