The AMIkids Jacksonville YouthBuild Program is a community-based workforce development program providing GED education, hands-on career training, leadership development, and job placement services for young adults ages 16–24. Participants can earn their GED while gaining industry-recognized credentials, real-world work experience, and the skills needed to pursue employment, apprenticeships, or continued education.
Program Services Include:
GED & Education
Participants can earn their GED while receiving academic instruction and individualized educational support.
- Earn a GED
- Academic instruction and educational support
- Individualized guidance to help participants achieve their educational goals
Career & Technical Training
Participants receive hands-on occupational training designed to prepare them for high-demand careers.
Construction Pathway
- Earn the nationally recognized NCCER Core credential
- Gain hands-on residential construction training
- Participate in building and renovating affordable housing projects
- Develop skills aligned with careers in the construction industry
Marine Technician Pathway
- Complete a Florida Department of Education Registered Pre-Apprenticeship
- Train in marine repair, marine electrical systems, propulsion systems, hydraulics, diagnostics, and shipbuilding-related occupations
- Gain skills aligned with careers in the growing marine services industry
Career Preparation & Job Placement
Participants receive the tools, training, and support needed to prepare for employment and take the next step in their careers, including:
- Career readiness training
- Resume development and interview preparation
- Leadership development
- Work-based learning opportunities
- Employer connections
- Career coaching
- Job placement assistance
Supportive Services
AMIkids Jacksonville provides individualized support to help participants overcome barriers and stay on track, including:
- Case management
- Mentoring and guidance
- Connections to community resources
- Support services through local partners
Opportunities at No Cost
There is no cost to enroll. Eligible participants receive access to GED education, workforce training, career services, job placement assistance, and supportive resources at no cost.
